Why do people love classic cars? Many people have classic cars because they remind them of their youth and oftentimes of their own first car. A classic car is an older car, 20 years or older, though definitions vary. The common theme of a classic car is having sufficient historical interest to be considered collectible and worth preserving or restoring. Classic cars are a subset of a broader category of "collector cars." The closer a classic car is to its pristine original condition, the more valuable it is. However, well maintained and properly restored classic cars are also valuable, in some cases, almost as valuable as an original. Although, there are classic car enthusiasts that aren't particularly concerned with a car's monetary value, but rather the nostalgic value and gratification of enjoying a piece of history. Classic Cars have many forms. There is the original condition or restored form, which appeals to some enthusiasts because of the car's pure beauty, as intended by the creator. Then there are the customized forms of classics, such as the Resto-Mod, which may appear to be an original car, but with a modern engine and drivetrain. The Muscle Cars from the 1960's and 1970's are certainly part of the Classic Car era. These cars have an aggressive stance with big, powerful engines. Hod Rods from the 1920's and 1930's are always a head turning, attention grabber. These big tire, shiny engine masterpieces always draw attention from the fortunate bystanders as the car roars down the road. Then there are the Rat Rods. Typically assembled from a 1920's or 1930's car, where usually nothing more than the body is original. Most wil have exposed engines and exhaust pipes, big tires sticking out the sides, customized roof lines, and a rusty or natural patina. Many people with classic cars use them as "Daily Drivers" in order to have the regular enjoyment and nostalgic reminder of why they love classic cars. Of course, regular use requires regular maintenance and general upkeep. Other enthusiasts prefer to keep their classic car in their garage the majority of the time and only bring them out for car shows or other special occasions. The "Garage Queen" will wait patiently as the anticipation grows between events, which increases the excitement when the time comes to take the car out again.
